Geriatric Depression Scale. A Hindi version of the Geriatric Depression Scale (Yesavage JA, et al., Development and validation of a geriatric depression screening scale: A preliminary report. Everyday Abilities Scale for India (EASI). A new scale, in the form of an informant questionnaire, for the measurement of activities of daily living relevant to the detection of dementia in our rural older illiterate study cohort. The above instruments were used in subsequent surveys of those aged 55+ years in Ballabgarh; the surveys were used to estimate the prevalence and incidence of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Data from the surveys were also used to examine associates of various potential risk factors with cognitive impairment and dementia. These analyses are ongoing.
